RUMOUR (rumor) IN ORLÉANS.  Jews accused of white slaving: a modern myth examined. Morin, Edgar. Lon, Anthony Blond, octavo hardcover, 1971, 276p. A truly fascinating story. In 1969 a rumour swept through Orleans. Six dress shops operated, as it happened, by Jews, had been used as a means of trapping innocent young French girls to be sold into Eastern sex-slavery. Girls had gone into fitting rooms and never emerged, indeed were instead tied up in the back room and spirited away for sale to slavers. Curiously no town girls had been reported missing. This is the story of the panic that swept Orléans, of girls terrified of white slavers and the relationship of the fantasies that arose to that 'shrine of narcissistic sexuality' - i.e. the dressing-room. A classic study in psychology. Cloth slightly degraded, spine gilt lettering excellent, book edges have some staining. Dust-jacket well worn, rather poor in fact. Temples of
ConvenienceTEMPLES OF CONVENIENCE. Lambton, Lucinda. Gordon Fraser (UK), A4 paperback (stiff pictorial card), 1978, 60 pages, illustrated. An unusual collection - coloured photos taken by the author of a wide range of conveniences, i.e. toilets, potties, that sort of thing. Seems to be a rather odd idea to bother with but 'whatever turns you on' is what I always say. Note, however, that there is a later and larger book out (different publisher, same photographer) which I am told has about 150 examples. The one I am offering, the original edition, has 112. Most are in colour. This copy is priced to reflect the fact you get fewer of these wonderful (?) objet d'art to contemplate.  Some light edge wear but fairly good. ISBN 0860920100. Keywords: toilets latrines conveniences buildings urinals commodes  Cat nr 19027 -  $A15
