 MAKING OF ME (The). Finding My Future

the word has an ugly ring to it. And too many rapes go
unpunished because they are either unreported or the
female victim (they are mostly females, of course), is
understandably reluctant to become the centre of a
court action. I well remember hearing that a young
girl had been prepared to face her rapists during one
of the most dramatic rape cases in Australian history
and thinking how brave and sensible she was. Tegan
later revealed her identity publicly because, she
wanted other victims to report the crime and take back
their power. Tegan was just 14 when she was lured into
a house and gang-raped under horrific circumstances.
Even today the names of her rapists are not available
because, due to a stupid law, one of them was a
'juvenile' at the time (but not so juvenile he
couldn't engage in rape!). Long prison sentences
followed their crime. The book has a little edge and
