![]() Memories of the flood in January 2011. Our road was cut at this point but we could get into town by another route. For orientation - the large building at the top left of photo is the headquarters of Murray Views. |
![]() The young lady is having some fun floating around on water over our road. The water attracted many visitors! |
![]() Another visitor to what would normally be our road. In fact, the area just outside our house became a sort of impromptu town square with people coming and going to view the flood waters, paddle in boats and just to look. |
![]() A young busker at the Southside Market. I would have been far too shy to engage in such an activity at her age! I admire young people who get out and do things like this. (I don't know her name but would be happy to add it here if her family contact me.) |
![]() A view of some of the beautiful country around Gympie. I am a newcomer, one of the invaders from the south (fortunately for me there is no Jo guarding the pass these days) and I find this area just stunningly beautiful. |
![]() No need to say what's in this photo. I'm sure everyone in Gympie knows this place. And it is most photogenic - at least I think it is. |
![]() Feeding the ducks in a quiet corner of the park. This park is a magnet for a hoard of ibises which, I gather, are not too popular as they tend to drive out the other birds. Ibises visit my home daily, along with many other bird varieties. |
![]() Someone enjoying herself at the Southside Market. |
![]() A patriotic touch at Gympie's Australia Day celebrations in 2010. |
![]() My over-indulged cat Giles. Poor Giles had to travel in my car all the way up from Newcastle when I moved here. We drove through the night, stopping only for petrol. But he looks like he's recovered! Cats are great survivors. |
![]() Bit of a shock to find myself dealing with a witch at the Woolworths checkout! But she was a charming witch, probably a white witch. A nice touch for Halloween. |
![]() Many birds visit our backyard. There are always ibis, and crows, magpies, mudlarks, butcherbirds, sparrows, crested pigeons, doves, willy wagtails (or are they restless flycatchers?), and once in a while white cockatoos. Just recently a small flock of galahs turned up and over a period of days cleaned out something delicious they found on the ground. Couldn't work out what they were eating and neither, I guess, could the crow and ibis watching! |
